OYO STRENGTHENS INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS TO TACKLE KIDNAPPING, CYBERCRIME
The Oyo State Government has pledged to strengthen intelligence gathering and security operations as part of renewed efforts to combat kidnapping, cybercrime and other criminal activities across the state.
The commitment was made as security stakeholders in the state intensified discussions on ways to improve intelligence sharing and strengthen collaboration among agencies responsible for protecting residents.
The government said the increasing sophistication of criminal activities requires security agencies to adopt more proactive approaches, particularly through improved intelligence gathering, analysis and timely response.
Kidnapping remains a major security concern in parts of Oyo State, with authorities continuing to explore strategies for identifying criminal networks and preventing attacks before they occur.
The state also identified cybercrime as an emerging threat requiring greater attention, particularly as criminals increasingly exploit digital platforms and technology to perpetrate fraud and other offences.
Security agencies were therefore urged to strengthen their capacity to monitor criminal activities, share intelligence and respond quickly to emerging threats.
The government stressed that effective intelligence gathering would enable security personnel to identify potential threats before they escalate and improve the coordination of operations across different parts of the state.
It also called for closer cooperation between security agencies and residents, noting that members of the public have an important role to play by providing useful information about suspicious activities within their communities.
Community leaders and other stakeholders were similarly encouraged to support security agencies by creating an environment where residents can confidently report information without fear.
The renewed intelligence drive is expected to complement existing security measures aimed at protecting lives and property while reducing the activities of kidnappers, cybercriminals and other criminal elements.
The Oyo State Government reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies and other stakeholders to strengthen the state’s security architecture and ensure that residents can go about their daily activities without fear.
