Fear has gripped communities in Kebbi State after gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist groupattacked a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint, killing three officers.

The deadly incident happened around midnight on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Bakin Ruwa, located along the Maje border in Bagudu Local Government Area.

According to multiple local sources who spoke with Channels Television, the terrorists stormed the checkpoint without warning and immediately opened fire on the officers on duty. Three immigration personnel were killed on the spot.

The attackers also set a vehicle ablaze and destroyed the shelter structure at the checkpoint before fleeing into the surrounding bushes.

A security source confirmed that the gunmen escaped through remote routes, making it challenging for security operatives to track them immediately.

The spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, Nafiu Abubakar, said the details of the attack were still unclear at the moment, but investigations are ongoing.

Residents of border communities in Bagudu now live in heightened tension as the attack has raised fresh concerns about the growing activities of the Lakurawa terrorist group in the region.

More updates are expected as security agencies continue probing the incident.
