The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has deployed an additional 15 beneficiaries of its foreign scholarship scheme for postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom as part of its May 2026 academic placements abroad.

The scholars will pursue master’s degree programmes in fields such as biomedical science, oil and gas engineering, data science, cyber security, software engineering, automotive engineering, and communication, culture, and media.

The deployment was announced during a pre-departure briefing held at the PAP headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, where the programme’s Administrator, Dennis Otuaro, said some of the beneficiaries earned the awards through outstanding academic performance, including first-class degrees.

Each of the 15 scholars also received a laptop to support their studies abroad.

Otuaro said the scholarship expansion and other achievements of the programme were made possible through the support of President Bola Tinubu and supervision from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

According to him, the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda and is aimed at promoting peace, development, and stability in the Niger Delta.

“All the scholarship deployments and the monumental successes we have achieved are as a result of the strong support of President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to represent Nigeria well during their studies and to return home after completing their programmes to contribute to national development.

“Be good ambassadors of Nigeria while in the United Kingdom… Do your best and return home after your studies to join hands in advancing peace and development in our communities,” he said.

Earlier, PAP’s Head of Education, Charles Ariye, briefed the scholars on academic expectations and adjustment to life in the UK.

A representative of the beneficiaries, Ikiere Victor, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and PAP leadership, pledging that the scholars would uphold discipline and excellence.

The PAP noted that over 9,000 students have benefited from its scholarship and training programmes since 2024 as part of efforts to promote skills acquisition and reintegration in the Niger Delta region.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
