General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called for the immediate release of popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, aka SeaKing, who was arrested and arraigned for criticizing him on social media.

The cleric also distanced himself from the arrest, stating that he had no prior knowledge of the incident or those behind it.

SeaKing was arrested in December 2024 after posting a TikTok video where he slammed Adeboye’s directive for a 100-day fast, calling it “stupid”. His remarks angered the Concerned Christian Youth Forum, which petitioned the Lagos State Police Command, leading to his arrest.

In a viral video seen by Sunday PUNCH, Adeboye addressed the controversy, emphasizing that he never instructed anyone outside RCCG to fast and was unaware of the arrest.

"I was told that some people got so angry and went to arrest the fellow. Haaa! Release him. He is fulfilling prophecy," he said.

Meanwhile, James Adama, convener of the Christian youth forum, admitted in a YouTube video that his group was responsible for the arrest, citing concerns over cyber harassment against religious leaders.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians demanding SeaKing’s release and questioning the use of law enforcement in religious disputes.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
