Emmanuel Ogidi, a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed optimism that despite the ongoing internal crisis within the opposition, the party still has a strong chance of reclaiming power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Ogidi, who serves as the caretaker chairman of the PDP in the South-South geopolitical zone, shared his confidence on Monday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

“We are fighting a system that is trying to destroy democracy. There is hope for democracy because PDP is the face of the opposition. PDP stands for democracy,” he stated.

The PDP has been experiencing internal challenges in recent times, which have led to the resignation of several members, including the party’s former spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
