PENCOM UNVEILS FX AND CHILD REGISTRATION ROADMAPS FOR 2026
The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has unveiled ambitious roadmaps for foreign exchange management and child registration in the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) as part of its strategic initiatives for 2026.
The FX roadmap aims to enhance the efficiency of pension fund investments in foreign assets, improve liquidity management, and mitigate exchange rate risks for Retirement Savings Account (RSA) holders. PenCom Director-General, Mrs. Aisha Dahiru-Umar, described the initiative as crucial for protecting the value of pension assets amid currency volatility.
In parallel, the child registration roadmap seeks to facilitate the inclusion of minors in the CPS, allowing parents and guardians to open voluntary contribution accounts for their children. This is expected to promote early savings culture and long-term financial planning among Nigerian families.
PenCom has called on Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) to intensify awareness campaigns and streamline processes for seamless implementation. The commission assured stakeholders of robust regulatory oversight to ensure the success of both initiatives.
The roadmaps align with PenCom’s broader goal of deepening pension coverage and optimising returns for contributors. Industry experts have welcomed the development, noting its potential to strengthen the pension industry’s resilience and inclusiveness.
