Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again raised alarm over Nigeria’s worsening security situation.

Obi was reacting to the gruesome killing of worshippers in Katsina State, which has left the nation in shock. Taking to his official X handle, the former governor described the incident as “devastating” and urged leaders to place more value on human lives instead of treating such tragedies as mere statistics.

“The tragic news from Katsina has grown even more devastating, as the search continues with over 50 bodies now recovered,” Obi lamented.

He stressed that the massacre was more than just an attack on innocent worshippers, but a painful reminder of the rising insecurity across the country.

Obi further warned that unless the government urgently addresses the root causes of insecurity, Nigerians will keep mourning needless and avoidable losses.

His comments add to the growing calls for urgent and decisive action to restore peace and safety across Nigeria.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
