PETER OBI SENDS CONDOLENCES TO DATTI BABA-AHMED OVER BROTHER’S DEATH
Former presidential candidate and chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has expressed sympathy to his former running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, following the death of his younger brother.
Obi shared his condolence message on his verified 𝕏 account on Friday, describing the loss as painful and praying for strength for the bereaved family during the difficult period.
In his message, the former Anambra State governor said his thoughts and prayers were with Datti Baba-Ahmed and the entire family as they mourned the passing of their loved one.
Obi prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for comfort, patience and peace for the grieving family, adding that only God gives true consolation in moments of sorrow.
Meanwhile, Obi also reflected on governance and security challenges in Nigeria while recounting a personal experience during a recent interview on News Central TV.
The former presidential candidate revealed that a car he bought in the United Kingdom was once stolen, but the incident was handled through an organised and responsive system.
According to him, countries like the UK have structured institutions that ensure crimes are properly tracked, investigated and responded to quickly.
Obi said the experience highlighted the importance of accountability, efficient institutions and strong governance systems in tackling insecurity and crime.
