PETROL TANKER SOMERSAULTS, CATCHES FIRE ON ISEYIN-OYO ROAD
A tanker transporting 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, crashed and caught fire on Monday morning in Iseyin, Oyo State.
The incident occurred near NICO Farm along the Iseyin-Oyo Road. The Lagos-registered tanker, bearing number LM62XP, reportedly lost control while in motion, veered off the road into a ditch, and subsequently caught fire.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, said the agency received the alert at 10:46 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025.
In a statement, Akinwande explained that fire service personnel, led by PFS1 Azeez, were immediately deployed to the scene. Upon arrival, the crew swiftly acted by applying chemical foam compound to suppress the flames, successfully preventing an explosion and stopping the fire from spreading to nearby structures or vehicles.
"The fire was completely extinguished, and normal traffic flow was restored on the road," he confirmed.
