PHOTOS: TINUBU HOSTS AFRICAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR ADEMOLA LOOKMAN IN LAGOS
Ademola Lookman, the 27-year-old Atalanta forward and reigning African Footballer of the Year, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at his residence in Lagos on Thursday.
Lookman brought along the prestigious CAF Player of the Year trophy, which he won in December 2024 in Marrakech, Morocco—becoming the latest Nigerian to receive the honor after Victor Osimhen.
The visit also included the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, who joined in celebrating Lookman’s recent achievements.
The award recognizes Lookman’s remarkable performance for both the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, and his club, Atalanta. His standout moment came when he netted a hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final, securing Atalanta’s first-ever European title.
In the 2024/2025 season, Lookman continued his stellar form, scoring 15 goals and playing a key role in Atalanta’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
Currently enjoying his off-season break, the Super Eagles star is spending time in Lagos after an exceptional year in Italian football.
