POLICE ARREST 22-YEAR-OLD WOMAN OVER ALLEGED SELF-KIDNAP

** **The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old woman, Nwachukwu Blessing Chidubem, over an alleged plot to stage her own kidnapping and obtain N3m from her family.

The woman was reportedly abducted along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway on August 29, 2026. According to the police, her family paid N3m in ransom, but she was not released, prompting further investigation.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, later traced and found her in a room in Asaba, Delta State, on September 18 following intelligence gathering.

The police said preliminary findings indicated that the woman allegedly worked with a female associate identified as Onyinye and another male accomplice whose identity has not been established.

The suspect is assisting investigators with information as efforts continue to locate the alleged accomplices and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama, directed that the investigation be intensified and that anyone found culpable should face the law.
