The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, for alleged involvement in defilement and armed robbery.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrest in a statement released in Uyo on Saturday.

According to the police, Iseyen, who hails from Ini Local Government Area, was arrested on August 28, 2025, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.

“Detectives tracked and apprehended the suspect at about 1:40 p.m. on August 28. A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and one cartridge,” the statement read.

DSP John further explained that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected gang and recover additional weapons used in their operations.

She also appealed to residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information, assuring that the Command remains committed to keeping Akwa Ibom safe.
