The Osun State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, six alleged cult members, and recovered stolen motorcycles in separate operations across the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan.

According to the statement, the arrests followed reports of robbery, attempted murder, and cult-related violence in Ile-Ife and Iree.

On August 16 and 18, 2025, two commercial motorcyclists reported separate attacks by a suspect identified as Johnson Olagoke. The victims alleged they were lured to a location where they were assaulted, rendered unconscious, and dispossessed of their motorcycles, cash, and phones.

Acting on intelligence, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Olagoke, 23, and recovered two Boxer motorcycles with registration numbers KJA 543 QN and BDG 556 QN. He is currently assisting police in tracking other accomplices.

In a separate incident, the Anti-Cultism Unit intercepted a violent clash between suspected cult groups in Iree, Boripe LGA, on September 8. The clash, involving the Buccaneers confraternity and rival gangs, left two students injured and receiving treatment in the hospital.

Six suspects—Oluwadamilare Temitope (23), Ayodeji John (24), Adepoju Adesoji (27), Yusuf Abeeb (24), Fatai Quadri (24), and Lateef Abiodun (23)—were arrested in connection with the fracas.

DSP Ojelabi assured that all suspects will be charged to court after investigations are concluded, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report criminal activities to security agencies.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
