POLICE ARREST FOUR FOR VANDALIZING TRANSFORMERS IN NIGER STATE
The Niger State Police Command has arrested four men for vandalizing and stealing transformer cables in Enagi town, Edati Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday, September 8, 2025.
According to him, the suspects — identified as Mohammed Baba, Mohammed Ndako, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and Mohammed Ibrahim, all from Gbodoti village — were caught following intelligence reports and the help of community members.
The incident occurred on September 3 at about 8 a.m., when operatives attached to the Enagi Division, working with residents, apprehended the four men.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to vandalizing and stealing cables from transformers in Gbodoti and Guzzan villages. They have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
The police commended the cooperation of community members and urged residents to remain vigilant in protecting public infrastructure from vandals.
