The police have arrested a key suspect in connection with a recent attack on a community in Kogi, during which suspected armed groups reportedly invaded the area and rustled livestock.

Security operatives also recovered about 100 cattle believed to have been stolen during the incident, according to preliminary reports from the command.

Authorities said the arrest followed intelligence-led operations aimed at tracking down those responsible for the attack and disrupting criminal networks operating in the area.

The suspect is currently in custody and is being interrogated to provide further information on other members of the group and possible collaborators.

Police officials noted that efforts are ongoing to ensure the arrest of additional suspects linked to cattle rustling and violent attacks in rural communities across Nigeria.

The command assured residents that security deployments have been intensified in affected areas to prevent further incidents and restore confidence among local communities.

Investigations into the attack are continuing as authorities work to bring all perpetrators to justice.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
