The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, Ifeanyi Odinka, for allegedly stabbing his father, Dennis Odinka, to death during a dispute over proceeds from a land sale in Orlu.

In a related incident, a clergyman identified as Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel has also been taken into custody for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman in the same area.

According to the police, Ifeanyi, who is from Amaifeke in Orlu Local Government Area, attacked his 75-year-old father during an argument about money made from selling land. The state police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, stated on Wednesday that the suspect admitted to the crime during interrogation. He added that Ifeanyi has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri for further investigation and prosecution.

In a separate case, Okoye revealed that officers from the Orlu Division apprehended 32-year-old Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel of Authentic Power City Church for allegedly raping a young woman under the guise of conducting special prayers.

Emmanuel, who hails from Umuobom in Ideato South LGA, along with an accomplice, Franklin Chizoba, reportedly lured the victim to the pastor’s residence on June 30, 2025. Once there, she was given a drug-laced drink, which left her disoriented. The two men then allegedly took advantage of her condition.

Okoye explained, “Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel and Franklin Chizoba invited the victim to his home under the pretense of offering spiritual help. After giving her a drink, she became dizzy, and both men allegedly engaged in unlawful sexual acts with her.”

During interrogation, both suspects reportedly confessed to the act and further admitted to being involved in homosexual activities. They were arraigned in court on August 12, 2025, and have been remanded in the Correctional Facility in Owerri pending trial.

The Imo State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting crime and protecting lives and property across the state. It also urged residents to stay vigilant, obey the law, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the emergency number 0803 477 3600.
