POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED ARMS COURIER IN LAGOS

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Lukman Sanni, on suspicion of transporting an illegal firearm.

Sanni was arrested during a stop-and-search operation at Iyana Isashi, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi.

Police said a search of the suspect led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, two live cartridges and an item described as a suspected charm.

Adebisi said the arrest formed part of ongoing efforts to tackle illegal firearm possession, arms trafficking and other criminal activities across Lagos State.

Investigators are working to establish how Sanni obtained the weapon and ammunition, as well as their intended destination.
