The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested ten suspects in a series of coordinated operations aimed at curbing armed robbery, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities across the state.

The arrests were confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Shi’isu Adam.

According to the statement, the statewide operations were carried out simultaneously by different police divisions and tactical units, leading to the arrest of one wanted armed robbery suspect and nine other suspects linked to drug-related offences and other crimes.

Adam disclosed that during the operations, the police also seized a total of 7,028 illicit drugs, including rubber solution, “suck and die,” and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

He said seven of the suspects were arrested for alleged involvement in drug dealing and consumption. They include Nadabo Ibrahim, 25, of Kwanar Garki; Alkassaim Sa’idu, 27, of Acauya village, Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area; Ibrahim Sambo, 22, of Bitinariya Quarters, Hadejia LGA; Usman Abubakar, 30, of Dunari Quarters; Aminu Muhd, 25, also of Dunari Quarters; Yusuf Sale, 22, of Nassarawa Quarters; and Ibrahim Ismail, 23, of Marakawa Quarters, Ringim LGA.

The PPRO added that operatives from ‘B’ Division, Hadejia, during one of the raids, recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle earlier reported stolen from a complainant’s residence in Rinde Quarters, Hadejia town.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect(s) connected with the theft, while the recovered motorcycle has since been returned to its rightful owner on bond,” Adam stated.

In another operation, he said operatives attached to the Malam-Madori Division recovered two cows suspected to have being rustled at the outskirts of Dunari Quarters.

“The suspects abandoned the cows and escaped into a nearby bush on sighting the police,” he said, adding that investigations were ongoing to track and arrest those responsible.

Adam further noted that all arrested suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive patrols, intelligence-led operations, and community policing initiatives to rid the state of criminal elements.

The police spokesperson urged residents to continue supporting the command with timely and credible information, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to maintaining peace and security in Jigawa State.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
