POLICE ARREST TWO OVER BURGLARY AS STOLEN IPHONE SELLS FOR N25,000

The Osun State Police Command has arrested two men in connection with an alleged burglary in which valuables estimated at ₦3 million were stolen, including laptops, mobile phones, power banks and recharge cards.

One of the suspects, 27-year-old Eyelade Anuoluwa, was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, following intelligence gathered by operatives attached to the Ilesa Area Command.

The police said Anuoluwa allegedly burgled the residence of the complainant on July 26, 2026, and stole an HP laptop, a Dell laptop, an iPhone 12, an Android phone, two power banks and recharge cards, with a total estimated value of ₦3 million.

According to the Osun State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, where he allegedly confessed to the crime.

The police said further interrogation led to Anuoluwa disclosing that some of the stolen items had been transferred to a receiver in Ibadan.

Following the information, police operatives from the SCID conducted an intelligence-led operation which resulted in the arrest of 28-year-old Abdullah Musa, who was allegedly involved in receiving stolen property.

The police said Musa also confessed to receiving some of the stolen items and admitted to being involved in activities linked to a syndicate dealing in stolen goods.

According to the police, Musa specifically confessed that he bought the stolen iPhone 12 from Anuoluwa for ₦25,000.

Several items were recovered during the operation, including an HP laptop, a Dell laptop, a small Samsung phone, a mini DP charger, two power banks, an Apple iPad and a scrap phone.

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, CP Ibrahim Zungura, commended the operatives for their diligence and intelligence-led approach, which resulted in the arrests and recovery of some of the stolen property.

The command said investigation was ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects' activities, identify other individuals connected to the alleged syndicate and recover additional stolen property.

The police added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation in accordance with the law.

The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and persons to the police through the appropriate channels.
