The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered a firearm during an intelligence-led operation in Ondo Town.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the operation was carried out by the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in collaboration with the Ondo End Miscreant Group.

The suspects, identified as Nnamdi Sunday and Adegbuyi Seyi, were arrested on April 11, 2026, and are believed to be affiliated with rival cult groups, including the Eiye and Aiye confraternities.

Police said preliminary investigations linked them to a recent cult clash on April 9 within the premises of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, where violence reportedly disrupted public peace.

Following their arrest, the suspects reportedly led officers to a hideout in the Oka Garage area, where a locally made pistol was recovered.

The police confirmed that the suspects remain in custody while investigations continue to track other fleeing members and recover additional weapons.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling cultism and violent crime, urging residents to continue providing credible intelligence to support security operations.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
