POLICE CONFIRM DEATH OF GIRL ALLEGEDLY PUSHED FROM TWO-STOREY BUILDING

Girl, 17, Dies After Alleged Push From Owerri Building

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the death of 17-year-old Chiamaka Chukwuokore, who was allegedly pushed from a two-storey building in Owerri.

Police spokesperson Henry Okoye said the incident occurred on November 1 along Mbonu Ejike Street in Ikeneagbu.

The suspect, 26-year-old Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph, remains in custody and now faces a murder allegation following the teenager’s death.

Chiamaka had initially been taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries and was receiving treatment in critical condition.

Police said officers intervened when an angry crowd attempted to attack the suspect, rescuing him before taking him into custody.

Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso expressed condolences to the girl’s family and assured them that investigators were working to establish the full circumstances.

The command urged residents to remain calm, avoid circulating unverified information and allow the investigation to proceed.

The statement did not confirm that a formal murder charge had been filed in court.
