The Nigeria Police Force has extended the deadline for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement to August 12, 2025, following extensive public feedback.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, made the announcement on Saturday through a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi. The extension aims to create a more user-friendly and accessible application process for Nigerians.

The police noted that the move aligns with their commitment to fostering transparent, inclusive, and citizen-oriented policing, especially as technical and policy reviews of the permit system are still underway.

According to the statement, the additional time will allow for key improvements to both the physical and online application platforms, including streamlined verification procedures and reduced processing delays.

“The Force has listened to Nigerians. Their feedback has been vital in shaping reforms to make the process more accessible, secure, and convenient,” the statement read.

Citizens are encouraged to apply or renew their tinted glass permits only through the official police portal, and to report any cases of extortion or unauthorized fees.

The Nigeria Police reaffirmed their commitment to public safety, technological advancement, and better service delivery, and called on the public to continue supporting the ongoing reforms.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
