The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects, Maureen Okirie, 35; Salia Karikari, 15; and Jubril Karikari, 12, in connection with the alleged murder of 38-year-old Stanley Okirie and an attempted secret burial in Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, detectives from the Ajuwon Division acted on intelligence and stormed the scene on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at about 11:15 a.m., where one suspect was allegedly caught trying to bury a blood-drenched corpse in a shallow grave.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained severe head injuries, allegedly inflicted with a wooden pestle during a violent attack reportedly involving close family members.

The police said the suspected murder weapon has been recovered, while the body has been deposited at a mortuary for autopsy.

The statement added that the suspects are currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the incident, describing it as cruel, especially given the alleged involvement of relatives.

He assured residents that the command is committed to a thorough investigation and that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.

The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies through designated emergency lines.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
