POLICE NAB 28 SUSPECTED THUGS IN KANO DURING MAJOR CRACKDOWN
The Kano State Police Command has arrested 28 suspected thugs in a sweeping three-day operation aimed at tackling crime and restoring public safety across the state.
Dubbed Operation Kukan Kura, the exercise ran from Saturday, July 12, to Monday, July 14, and was described by authorities as a “successful clearance operation.” The initiative is part of a community-focused strategy that encourages residents to actively support efforts to prevent and combat crime.
In a statement on Monday, the police revealed that the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, personally led the operations alongside his team of commanders, focusing on areas within the Kano metropolis notorious for thuggery.
The results, they said, were encouraging.
“The operation led to the arrest of 28 suspects and the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs,” the police spokesperson disclosed. “Importantly, during this period, there were no reported cases of undetected phone robberies or theft across the state.”
Commissioner Bakori praised his officers for their professionalism and commitment, urging them to keep up the momentum to maintain the safety and security of lives and property in Kano.
He also highlighted that the operation’s success underscored the importance of cooperation between the police and members of the community.
“The success of Operation Kukan Kura is a testament to the Command’s determination to engage with the community and work hand-in-hand to fight crime,” the statement noted.
The police thanked Kano residents for their continued support and called on them to remain vigilant by promptly reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
With this operation, the Kano Police Command has again demonstrated its resolve to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure that residents can live and do business in peace.
