POLICE NAB SIX SUSPECTED CULT MEMBERS, RECOVER FOUR GUNS IN DELTA
The Delta State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a cult group during a security operation in the state. Four firearms were also recovered from the suspects, according to the command, as officers intensified efforts to curb cult-related activities and other forms of criminality across Delta State.
The arrests followed intelligence received by the police concerning the activities of suspected cult members operating in the area. Acting on the information, operatives were deployed to track and apprehend the suspects, leading to the recovery of the weapons allegedly in their possession.
The police said the firearms recovered during the operation would form part of the evidence being used in the ongoing investigation. The command is expected to establish the identities of the suspects, their alleged affiliation and the circumstances surrounding their possession of the weapons.
The development comes amid continued security operations targeting cult groups and other criminal elements in Delta State. Police authorities have repeatedly warned individuals involved in cult-related activities to desist from violence and other unlawful acts, while promising that operatives would continue to pursue those suspected of threatening public safety.
The six suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue into the case. The command said further developments would be made public as the investigation progresses, while appealing to residents to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending suspected criminals in their communities.
