A police officer and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) lost their lives after bandits ambushed security personnel in Mada district, Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The attack occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when the assailants targeted operatives deployed to Fegin Mahe village under Operation Restore Peace.

Sources disclosed that the security team engaged the bandits in a fierce exchange of gunfire, during which a police officer from Tudun Wada Division and a JTF operative were killed. The attackers also made away with the officer’s service rifle.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau.
