The Abia State Police Command has successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number BRR667RM and arrested a suspect in connection with the crime.

Police spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed this in a statement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, on Friday.

According to the statement, the SUV was recovered on August 22, 2025, by the Command’s Scorpion Squad after receiving credible intelligence.

The arrested suspect, identified as Emeka Edwin Chukwuma, a native of Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, is currently in custody as investigations continue.

DSP Chinaka revealed that the case is linked to an earlier report of a stolen vehicle in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in 2022, which was later traced to Abia.

“The complainant has been contacted, and the investigation is still ongoing,” she confirmed.

The Police assured the public of their continued commitment to fighting vehicle theft and other criminal activities across Abia State.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
