POLICE SAFELY DETONATE EXPLOSIVE DEVICE DISCOVERED IN MAIDUGURI
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully uncovered and neutralised an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Maiduguri, preventing a potential security threat.
The device was found inside a suspicious backpack abandoned in the Layin Logo area of Moduganari during a routine patrol by officers of the Borno State Police Command.
According to police spokesperson Nahim Daso, the discovery was made around 9:00 a.m., prompting the immediate deployment of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit.
The specialised unit identified the object as an IED and safely detonated it in line with standard safety procedures, ensuring no casualties were recorded.
Authorities have urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious items or movements to security agencies, as investigations into the incident continue.
