In a brave and timely intervention, the Katsina State Police Command successfully foiled a bandit attack and rescued two kidnapped victims in Gago village, Dutsinma Local Government Area.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, around 1:42 a.m., when heavily armed bandits stormed the quiet community in an attempt to abduct residents.

Acting quickly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dutsinma, along with a team using an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), confronted the bandits in a fierce gun battle. The attackers were forced to retreat due to the police's superior response and firepower.

During the rescue operation, 47-year-old Sada Yahaya and 31-year-old Zuwaira Sada were safely recovered and found unharmed.

Security expert Zagazola Makama, who shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), praised the swift action of the officers and highlighted the importance of proactive policing in tackling insecurity in the region.

This latest success adds to ongoing efforts by security forces to push back against banditry and kidnappings in parts of northern Nigeria, especially in rural areas frequently targeted by criminal gangs.

Residents have been urged to remain alert and report suspicious movements as authorities continue the fight to restore peace and safety in the region.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
