PORTABLE VS. SAHEED OSUPA: MUSIC FEUD SPARKS ONLINE DRAMA, ENDS IN APOLOGY
Street-hop sensation, Portable, found himself in the eye of yet another controversy after publicly blasting Fuji legend, Saheed Osupa, over a copyright dispute. The drama unfolded when Osupa reported Portable’s song for copyright infringement, leading to its removal from all streaming platforms.
Apparently, Portable had sampled four lines from Osupa in one of his tracks without clearance. When the song got taken down, the Zazu crooner took to Instagram in a furious rant, branding the Fuji icon a "big-for-nothing, shameless old man." He accused Osupa of being selfish and claimed other Fuji legends like Pasuma had never complained when he interpolated their lyrics.
As the feud went viral, social media users quickly advised Portable to tread carefully, warning him that Saheed Osupa’s fanbase wasn’t the typical pop-culture crowd of Wizkid and Davido followers. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Portable backtracked, deleting his fiery videos and issuing a heartfelt apology to Osupa and his fans.
In his statement, Portable explained that his outburst was fueled by frustration, as the takedown had cut off his earnings from a song he claimed to have written long before his rise to fame. The dramatic exchange has since settled, but it remains a lesson in copyright respect and industry ethics for the ever-controversial Portable.
