Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has been seen displaying his luxurious mansion in Ibadan, Oyo State, said to be worth millions of naira.

In a now-viral video shared online, Adelabu is seen inside the well-furnished white residence, surrounded by a group of his supporters.

This comes at a time when the country’s power sector continues to grapple with multiple challenges, including a severe liquidity crisis, unstable electricity supply, frequent grid failures, complex tariff systems, affordability issues, and outdated infrastructure.

Adelabu recently revealed that electricity generation companies are owed legacy debts totaling N4 trillion by the federal government as of the end of 2024.

In a June 2025 report titled ‘Tracking Sustainable Development Goal, SDG7: The Energy Progress Report 2025’, the World Bank estimated that 86.8 million Nigerians— the highest figure globally — remain without access to electricity.
