POWER SUPPLY SET TO IMPROVE SOON, SAYS ADELABU
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians that the Bola Tinubu-led administration is addressing longstanding structural challenges that have hindered the country’s power sector.
Speaking with journalists on Friday after attending Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Agodi Prayer Ground in Ibadan, Adelabu said the recent improvements in electricity supply are only the beginning, hinting at more significant progress in the coming years. He expressed confidence that the power sector would soon deliver better services that will benefit households, businesses, institutions, and industries nationwide.
“The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement,” he said. “Rome wasn’t built in a day. To construct something solid, you need a firm and reliable foundation. The power sector had deep-rooted structural problems, which we’ve started correcting under this administration.”
Adelabu emphasized that the modest gains witnessed so far are just a glimpse of what lies ahead, adding, “Nigerians should expect much more substantial improvements in electricity supply.”
He noted that President Tinubu remains committed to his promise to power every part of the country. “The President reiterated this commitment on Thursday during the commissioning of a power plant in Port Harcourt. He is determined to light up every Nigerian home, business, institution, and industry — and we are not backing down,” the minister added.
Reflecting on his time in office, Adelabu, who assumed the ministerial role in September 2023, said noticeable progress has been made in under a year.
“From now to the next one year, expect significant advancements. These improvements will revive industries, boost small and medium-sized businesses, and brighten homes across the country, replacing darkness with light,” he concluded.
