PRESIDENCY DENIES RUMOURS OF TINUBU’S ILLNESS, SAYS PRESIDENT IS “FINE AND WORKING”
The Presidency has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is critically ill and preparing to travel abroad for urgent medical attention.
The allegations, published by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), suggested that the president had been bedridden for several days, forcing the cancellation of his official engagements — including last week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Quoting unnamed Aso Rock sources, ICIR claimed the president’s medical team was making arrangements for him to be flown overseas.
Reacting to the report on Sunday night, Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, told Daily Trust there was no truth to the speculation.
“There is nothing wrong with the president, he is okay,” Onanuga said. “He can choose to work from home. He can choose to work from anywhere.”
While acknowledging the president’s absence from public events last week, Onanuga stressed that it was not unusual for a leader to operate from home when necessary.
The Presidency’s response aims to put an end to the swirling rumours, assuring Nigerians that President Tinubu remains in good health and is actively carrying out his duties.
