President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigeria’s security agencies to take decisive action in eradicating terrorists and their foreign collaborators, promising full backing to strengthen the nation’s security framework during his two-day working visit to Katsina State.

President Bola Tinubu has instructed Nigerian security forces to take immediate and strong action to eliminate terrorists and their foreign partners as part of a broader effort to address the country’s growing security challenges. Speaking at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina, the President stressed the urgency of uniting against the ongoing threats of terrorism, banditry, and insurgency, particularly in the North-west region.

Addressing military and security personnel, Tinubu reaffirmed that Nigeria would not yield to terrorist threats. He assured the armed forces of the government’s full support, including providing advanced military equipment and logistical aid to strengthen their efforts.

“The destructive actions of bandits and insurgents have gone on for far too long, and we must eliminate them now,” the President stated. He emphasized that his administration would supply the necessary tools and intelligence to enhance security operations, ensuring that personnel have the resources they need to succeed.

“This battle will not be won solely with weapons, but with your determination to stand firm, resist, and fight,” Tinubu declared. “I will match your bravery with actions, investment, and unwavering support.”

The President also urged state governors to stay focused on their responsibilities, emphasizing that tangible achievements would be the best response to critics and distractions. He encouraged leaders to remain committed to improving the welfare of their citizens.

Beyond the security situation, President Tinubu placed significant emphasis on agriculture as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic growth. He urged state governors to prioritize farming, emphasizing the importance of moving away from an oil-dependent economy and investing in agriculture as a pathway to sustainable prosperity.

He praised the agricultural mechanization efforts in Katsina, where 400 tractors and various farming tools have been assembled at the state’s Agricultural Mechanization Centre. Tinubu encouraged other states to replicate this initiative, which he believes will enhance food security and empower local farmers.

“We must shift away from relying on oil and place greater focus on agriculture,” the President said. “Farming will be the source of our prosperity and progress.”

The President also assured that the federal government would complete essential infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activities. The 284-kilometer Kano-Jigawa-Katsina-Maradi rail line, which is set for completion in 2026, is expected to facilitate trade and alleviate transportation challenges along the route.

Additionally, the President announced the completion of phase II of the Kano-Katsina road and other vital road construction projects to improve mobility and support economic activities.

As part of its efforts to boost food security, President Tinubu revealed that the federal government would recapitalize the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to provide farmers with necessary funding to increase productivity. The administration is also focused on supporting agri-preneurs and tackling poverty, which the President identified as a major threat to peace and stability.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda echoed the President’s sentiments, outlining the state’s ongoing initiatives in agriculture and urban development. He mentioned that the state had constructed over 160 kilometers of roads to improve transportation and stimulate commerce. Additionally, the state’s investment in solar energy would significantly reduce recurrent costs by 50 percent.

“By modernizing agriculture and investing in infrastructure, we are ensuring a better future for Katsina State,” Governor Radda stated.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to working with the federal government to drive economic growth and improve the lives of the people.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
