PRIMARIES: APC CHIEFTAIN CALLS FOR UNITY IN OGUN
The Federal Commissioner representing Ogun State at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Akeem Amosun, has intensified efforts to rally support for the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary in Ogun Central, urging party members to unite behind Senator Shuiab Salisu ahead of the exercise scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026.
Amosun appealed to a political gathering held at his residence in Abeokuta, where he hosted party faithfuls, youth groups, women leaders, and political associates.
Addressing supporters at the event, he called on APC members across wards in Ogun Central Senatorial District to participate peacefully in the primary election and deliver overwhelming support for Salisu.
He stressed that unity and discipline within the party remained essential to securing victory in the contest.
Amosun noted that the commitment earlier shown by party members during previous internal alignments, including support for Hon. Afolabi Afuape, should now be extended to Salisu’s senatorial ambition.
“Just as our members stood firmly behind Afolabi Afuape, the same spirit, dedication, and loyalty are required for the success of Senator Shuiab Salisu in the senatorial primary election. We must remain united and committed to the progress of our great party,” he said.
The APC chieftain described Salisu as a loyal party member with the experience and capacity to represent Ogun Central in the Senate effectively.
He added that the party must continue to prioritise internal cohesion as preparations intensify ahead of the primary election.
Amosun also appealed for peaceful conduct during the exercise, urging party members to avoid actions that could disrupt the process.
According to him, politics should be guided by decorum, mutual respect, and commitment to party unity.
The gathering attracted supporters and political associates who expressed confidence in Salisu’s candidacy and pledged to mobilise votes across the senatorial district.
Many attendees described Amosun’s intervention as a strong signal of unity within the APC ahead of the contest.
