Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed confidence that the appointment of Prof. Abdulsalam Nasir Naeem as the new Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company Ltd will mark a turning point in the company’s journey toward revival and national economic relevance.

Speaking through his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, at a grand reception organized by Okun Concerned Citizens in Aiyegunle Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area, the Governor commended the Federal Government for selecting Prof. Naeem for the strategic role.

Governor Ododo praised Prof. Naeem’s exceptional academic background, extensive experience, and visionary leadership, describing the appointment as a “round peg in a round hole.” He expressed optimism that under Prof. Naeem’s stewardship, Ajaokuta Steel Company would regain its status as a key driver of Nigeria’s industrial development.

He further acknowledged the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing a Kogi State indigene to lead the steel company, calling it a move that has reignited hope in a fair and equitable Nigeria.

The Governor urged citizens to support the new MD wholeheartedly, pledging the state government’s commitment to collaborating with him to ensure the company’s success.

The event, chaired by former Governor Yahaya Bello, was graced by dignitaries from various sectors.

Prof. Naeem, a specialist in Steel and Geophysics, is expected to play a crucial role in repositioning Ajaokuta Steel Company as a pillar of Nigeria’s industrial future.
