Despite heavy rainfall on Monday, protesters under the banner of the Take-It-Back Movement marched to the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan to demand urgent action over rising insecurity and the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

The demonstrators had earlier gathered at Mokola Roundabout before moving through major parts of the state capital toward the Government House.

Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the protesters insisted that the downpour would not stop them from drawing attention to the worsening security situation in the state.

Some of the placards displayed messages such as “Security for all, not for a few,” “End kidnapping in Oyo State now,” “Safer roads and communities now,” and “Protect farmers, traders and students.”

The protest followed growing public outrage over the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in communities within Oriire Local Government Area, where armed men attacked schools and kidnapped several victims.

The demonstrators called on the government and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and strengthen protection for schools and rural communities across the state.

The latest protest also comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity in Oyo State, including attacks on schools, kidnappings, and killings in some communities.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
