The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched a mega Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) centre in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, to boost Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration.

The centre, located at Secretariat Junction under the bridge, began operations on March 25 and will run until March 30, 2026, operating daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Abubakar Sadiq, the initiative is aimed at addressing challenges experienced during the first phase of the registration exercise, including long travel distances, overcrowding, insecurity, and difficult terrain.

He explained that the commission has introduced a rotation system across 207 registration areas in 17 local government areas, as part of the second phase of the CVR, which began earlier in the year and is scheduled to end in April.

The mega centre is one of several approved nationwide, with Plateau selected to represent its geopolitical zone.

INEC has deployed about 20 registration machines to the location to ensure a smooth process and reduce waiting time for applicants.

Sadiq encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity, especially as the exercise includes weekend days to accommodate workers who may be unavailable during weekdays.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to improving voter access and participation ahead of future elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
