R. KELLY HOSPITALIZED AFTER SUFFERING OVERDOSE IN PRISON
American R&B singer R. Kelly was recently hospitalized following what his lawyer described as a life-threatening overdose while in prison.
His legal team has submitted an urgent request for his temporary release, citing serious concerns about his health and safety behind bars.
The 58-year-old artist is currently serving a 30-year sentence in North Carolina for sex trafficking and racketeering. Reports indicate that he collapsed in his solitary confinement cell on June 13, just three days after being placed in isolation.
According to his attorney, Beau Brindley, Kelly was administered an excessively high dose of medication on June 12 while still in solitary. The following day, he lost consciousness and was rushed to Duke University Hospital, where medical staff reportedly warned that the dosage could have been fatal.
