REA LAUNCHES 42 RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS
The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has launched 42 new renewable energy projects aimed at expanding electricity access to underserved communities across Nigeria.
The projects, which include solar mini-grids, standalone solar systems, and hybrid solutions, are expected to benefit thousands of households, businesses, and public institutions in rural and semi-urban areas. REA Managing Director, Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi, described the initiative as a major step towards achieving universal energy access. “These projects demonstrate our commitment to clean and sustainable power solutions,” she said.
The launch is part of the federal government’s aggressive push for renewable energy adoption and rural development. The projects are funded through a mix of government resources, international grants, and private sector participation.
Beneficiary communities have expressed excitement over the prospect of reliable electricity, which is expected to boost economic activities, education, and healthcare services.
REA has pledged to ensure timely implementation and maintenance of the new facilities.
