“REAL MADRID CHOSE TO LET ME GO” – HAKIMI OPENS UP AFTER PSG’S CLUB WORLD CUP THRASHING
Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi has revealed that it was Real Madrid’s decision — not his — to let him leave the club years ago.
The Moroccan defender made this disclosure after helping PSG secure a commanding 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-final on Wednesday at the MetLife Stadium.
Goals from Fabián Ruiz (who netted twice), Ousmane Dembélé, and Gonçalo Ramos ensured an emphatic win for the French giants over Xabi Alonso’s side.
Hakimi, who once emerged from Madrid’s youth ranks, was sold to Inter Milan in 2020. Just a year later, he moved to PSG, where he has since become one of the best right-backs in the world, winning multiple trophies — including the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Hakimi addressed the lingering question about why he ever left the Santiago Bernabéu.
“It wasn’t my decision. It was not me. They were the ones who decided to let me go,” he said, according to TouchlineX.
His comments have stirred fresh debates among fans, with many wondering if Los Blancos might be regretting that decision, especially after watching Hakimi shine against them on such a big stage.
Regardless, the Moroccan seems content with his journey so far, proving once again that sometimes a club’s loss becomes another’s incredible gain.
