REMA MAKES HISTORY AS ‘RAVE & ROSES’ BECOMES FIRST AFRICAN ALBUM TO HIT 3 BILLION SPOTIFY STREAMS
Rema’s ‘Rave & Roses’ Breaks Record with 3 Billion Spotify Streams
Nigerian music star Rema has set a new milestone in African music history. His debut album, Rave & Roses (Ultra), has become the first African album to surpass 3 billion streams on Spotify.
The record-breaking achievement is largely credited to the global success of the album’s hit single Calm Down, especially its remix featuring American pop icon Selena Gomez. That version alone has already crossed 2 billion streams, making it one of the most streamed songs ever by an African artist.
The rest of the album’s 20 tracks contributed the remaining streams, helping Rema hit this historic number. Released as an extended version of his original debut, Rave & Roses (Ultra) continues to push boundaries for Afrobeats and African music on the global stage.
Rema’s achievement puts him ahead of other African heavyweights on Spotify’s all-time streaming list. Close behind him is South African singer Tyla, whose self-titled debut album has now surpassed 2 billion streams.
Other notable names on the billion-streams list include:
Burna Boy’s African Giant and Love, Damini
Wizkid’s Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition
CKay’s CKay the First
This streaming milestone further cements Rema’s status as one of Africa’s biggest music exports and a global force in the Afrobeats movement.
With the world listening more than ever, it’s clear: Rema is just getting started.
