REMI TINUBU HONOURED WITH IGBO CHIEFTAINCY TITLE IN ENUGU
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been bestowed with the chieftaincy title of Ugosimba 1 of Enugu by the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council.
The title, which translates to “a precious jewel/eagle from another land,” was presented to her on Tuesday as part of her two-day official visit to Enugu State.
Chairman of the Council, Igwe Ikechukwu Asadu, explained that the honour was in recognition of her affection for the state, her philanthropic efforts, and her contributions to national progress.
“You served three terms in the Senate and were awarded the Commander of the Order of Niger. But what stands out even more is your compassion for the underprivileged, your advocacy for nurses and midwives, and your broader humanitarian impact,” Asadu noted.
In her response, Senator Tinubu expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing Enugu as a serene and welcoming state that brought her a sense of inner peace.
She dedicated the title to her husband, President Bola Tinubu, and their family, stating, “This honour is deeply meaningful and I will treasure it always. I have felt truly at home in your state—it is peaceful and warm. Enugu will always be remembered with fondness for this gesture.”
