Remo Stars Football Club has made history by winning their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.

The decisive moment came six minutes before the final whistle when Olamilekan Adedayo scored the only goal of the match, securing all three points and sealing Remo Stars' place atop the NPFL standings. The win handed Daniel Ogunmodede's side a total of 68 points from 35 matches, an unassailable lead over second-placed Rivers United, who finished the season with 58 points from the same number of games.

This historic victory is particularly significant as it marks the first time in nearly three decades that a privately owned club has claimed the NPFL title, a feat last achieved by Udoji United in 1996. It is also the first time a South West-based team has lifted the prestigious trophy since the now-defunct Julius Berger FC won the title 20 years ago.
