REPORT: XABI ALONSO FINALIZES DEAL TO BECOME REAL MADRID’S NEW MANAGER.
Real Madrid have reportedly finalized a deal with Xabi Alonso to take over as head coach, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso has agreed to a three-year contract with the Spanish giants, keeping him at the club until 2028. His arrival marks the conclusion of Carlo Ancelotti’s time at the helm and ushers in a new chapter led by the former Real Madrid midfielder.
Romano confirmed the development on Monday via X, writing: “Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, here we go! Story confirmed and deal sealed for Xabi as new manager until 2028.”
The agreement also includes a fully assembled coaching staff, with Alonso set to begin his role during the FIFA Club World Cup, where Real Madrid are expected to participate as Champions League titleholders.
Carlo Ancelotti is expected to bid farewell to Real Madrid soon, as the club prepares for an official managerial transition in the coming weeks. The Italian tactician, who has guided the team to numerous major titles, is poised to exit on a respectful note, paving the way for Xabi Alonso to take over.
Romano concluded, “Ancelotti farewell soon, then Xabi era.”
