RESIDENT DOCTORS IN ABUJA SUSPEND INDEFINITE STRIKE, RESUME WORK SEPT 22
The Association of Resident Doctors under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) has suspended its indefinite strike action.
Confirming the development on Friday, the President of ARD-FCTA, Dr George Ebong, said members are expected to return to work on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 8 a.m.
Dr Ebong explained that the decision followed the intervention of the Senate Committee on Federal Territory Area Councils and Ancillary Matters as well as respect for the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
However, he admitted that none of the doctors’ demands had been met at the time of filing this report.
“The Senate intervened. Even though none of our demands have been met yet, they assured us that they will talk to the minister. We hope the minister will listen to us, because we respect him,” Ebong said.
Resident doctors had embarked on the indefinite strike on Monday, citing poor working conditions, inadequate remuneration, and other unmet demands.
