RESIDENTS, STAKEHOLDERS URGE URGENT REHABILITATION OF EWOHIMI–IDUMUJIE–UGBOKO–ONICHA-UGBO ROAD
Residents and community stakeholders have called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and other relevant authorities to urgently fix the deteriorating Ewohimi–Idumujie–Ugboko–Onicha-Ugbo road, which has continued to worsen over time.
The road, which links parts of Delta and Edo States, is said to be in a deplorable condition, making movement difficult for motorists, traders, and commuters who rely on the route for daily economic activities.
Community voices argue that the failed sections of the road have slowed down transportation, increased travel costs, and in some cases forced residents to take longer alternative routes.
They also expressed concern that the poor state of the road has affected local businesses and agricultural activities, as farmers struggle to move their goods to nearby markets.
Stakeholders are now urging the NDDC and other government agencies to prioritise rehabilitation works, stressing that the road remains a key link between several communities across the region.
They further appealed for swift intervention to prevent further deterioration, especially as the rainy season is expected to worsen existing damage along the corridor.
Residents say they are hopeful that renewed attention from authorities will bring lasting relief and restore safe, smooth transportation along the route.
