The Rivers State House of Assembly has summoned all nominees for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council to appear for screening and confirmation.

According to a statement issued by the Clerk of the House, Emeka Amadi, the nominees are expected to present themselves at the Assembly Chamber, Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt, on Monday, March 9, 2026, by 10:00 a.m.

Last Friday, the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, explained that the screening process had been delayed because only seven of the nominees had initially submitted their curriculum vitae and other required credentials.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara had earlier forwarded a list of nine nominees to the Assembly last Monday for consideration and confirmation.

The invitation comes amid easing political tensions in the state following a third intervention by President Bola Tinubu.

The State Assembly had previously initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara for the third time, extending the move to include Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Nma Odu. However, the lawmakers later suspended the process after the president stepped in to mediate.
