Rivers United have officially commenced preparations for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

A total of 25 players reported for pre-season training under the supervision of the team's new technical manager, Finidi George, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

The players were warmly welcomed by Finidi and the rest of the coaching staff as the team begins its build-up to the upcoming campaign.

As part of their preparations, the Port Harcourt-based club is expected to play a series of friendly matches before the new season kicks off.

Rivers United finished as runners-up in last season’s NPFL, just behind champions Remo Stars.

The team will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League next season alongside Remo Stars.

The 2025/26 NPFL season is scheduled to kick off on Friday, August 22, 2025.
