RODGERS HAILS IHEANACHO AFTER SCORING LATE WINNER ON CELTIC DEBUT
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has expressed his delight after Kelechi Iheanacho marked his debut with a dramatic late winner against Kilmarnock on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker came off the bench with 20 minutes left and held his nerve to fire home a stoppage-time penalty, securing a 2-1 victory for the Scottish Premiership champions at Rugby Park.
Rodgers praised the 28-year-old forward, stressing that the goal will be a huge confidence booster as he settles into life at Celtic Park.
“I’m delighted for Kels because he’s a player who really feeds off confidence and the love of coaches and supporters. That goal will be very important for him,” Rodgers told the club’s official website.
Iheanacho, who joined Celtic on a free transfer earlier this month, could now be set for a key role in Rodgers’ attack this season.
